Take a trip back through time and around the globe with A Brief History of Chair Caning slide-show presentation. From King Tut’s Tomb to Contemporary Makers, chair caning has never really been “a lost art;” it is a craft practiced around the world for thousands of years.

Take a field trip to our Studio with your organization or school class. We tailor the program to suit your interests in design, craft as a business, kids programs, STEAM. We’ve worked with Winterthur Material Culture PhD students, West Hendersonville High Interior Design classes, Haywood Community College Professional Craft students, Penland woodworking students, Weavers & Woodworking Guilds, UNCA, Warren Wilson, Hanger Hall, Carolina Day School, the United Way Kids at Work Week, Lifelong Learning programs, and have visited elementary schools as part of an Arts Integration Program. Chair seat weaving is history, botany, social science, physics, geometry, process engineering, design, material culture, and of course, traditional craft!
